"Is Anybody Listening"

A line from a frustrated car buyer while trying to communicate what he wanted in a car. This phrase came to mind a couple of weeks ago when I was leading a devotional at our food distribution ministry.

I was leading a short devotional based on the scripture where Jesus talks about loving and praying for those who hurt you and that might be considered enemies. I could tell that some were struggling with this concept because of where many of them live their lives, they have opportunity to develop many enemies.

One man who attends just about every week but never makes a comment, caught me at the end and asked me where the scripture on enemies is found. He said that he was hurt by his wife just that week and that he really needed what was said about dealing with her. He was so thankful that God had spoken to him through His word.

This man was listening and heard God's word at a time he needed it.
